Sorry I haven't checked back for your kind offers of leftover stuff. I might take you up on one or both. I had been thinking of cushions rather than upholstery, but I haven't decided anything for certain yet, other than that I need to make another seat to work out the things I'd do differently. Not sure about adding a URL here, but e-mail me if you'd like to see pics of what I've done (nowhere near as nice as yours): kate.rob-at-verizon.net.

I just realized: I also have a buncha batting and foam left over too. And a spray can of the contact cement for the foam.

Hiya KB,

Gladta meetcha! If you're in need of some red, I have a couple yards of it. I went ahead and ordered 2 yds each of smoke, pearl, and ruby slipper red so that when I decided on which one I wanted to use I could just tear off and do it. So the red and the smoke are available, lemme know if you'd like some!

And I'll tell ya what, biscuit cutter makes me real happy.

I was thinking about what I'd do different, I'll put up another post on that as it ripens. I got the seat cushions on tonight, one more five-point harness and it'll be ready for a full evaluation. Three sections of my list are things I'm just going to have to learn how to do better heh.

Tonight's lesson from doing the seat pads: non-rectangular shapes are much better at demonstrating the weakness of my upholstery sauce.

Cheers!

Sooo glad I found your blog. Seems like you're in DC. I am too (well, Cheverly, MD actually, but I work downtown and lived there for 8 years). Anyway, I knew that I couldn't be the only dad on an Xtracycle-equipped bike.

I've been building my own prototype (meaning I would do lots of stuff differently next time) two-kid seat. It's great to see yours. Big forehead slap realizing I could have used that biscuit-jointer I have lying around instead.

And sparkly vinyl has called to me, too. In my case, red. But I've decided on some black widow-pane (?) nylon for the first cushions. We should meet up and compare notes.
